Eek! I’m so excited you’re here!
Welcome to my brand new website under my very own name!
When I first started working with polymer clay during the summer of 2020 I had no idea I would end up here. I’d dabbled a bit with the medium in the early ‘90s but hadn’t touched the stuff since then but when I got my first order of clay I was excited to get started. I even set up an Instagram profile so I could share my progress and learn from other crafters. Without much thought to the matter I named my profile, @the_studio_at_249, for the house number I was living at.
Six weeks later I knew this wasn’t going to be one of those crafts I obsessed over for a time and then put aside, never to be looked at again. I opened an Etsy shop under the name The Studio at 249 and began selling my creations. Not too long after that the house we were renting sold and my husband and I were on the move to a new address.
After two years of working with polymer clay and honing my skills I feel like I can actually call myself an artist. And so, I made the decision to rebrand under my own name rather than use a name tied to an address I no longer lived at.
Alongside working on the rebrand, I’ve begun working with a business coach and it feels damn good to get some clarity on what I want my business to be. It’s also been an eye opener learning about all the things I ought to have been doing all along for my business. Apparently, playing with clay all day isn’t conducive to running a successful business. Huh.
Now that I know better I can’t wait to see what the next two years bring.
